A glimpse into the life of a Mormon missionary (Elder Creer) as he serves a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He began serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission- Spanish speaking. On July 1, 2012, he was transferred to a new mission- the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission.

Michael Jordan or Luke Walton?

Hola Familia!
So this week was alright.  There was no turkey bowl for me because of my knee.  I hurt it probably 7 months ago playing soccer and it has been hurting me since then.  I thought it was just growing pains or whatever so I didn't think it was anything too serious.  But it keeps buckling when I play and it hurts sometimes.  It also doesn't lock at all like my right leg does, like there is nothing keeping it from just bending back. I don’t know what the deal is but I have an appointment with the doctor so I guess we will just wait and see. I bought a brace and some other stuff the other day at big 5 to try and help it and it is doing okay. A couple of the kids from the YSA ward brought over this ice machine that I have been using which has been helping a little.  I am on the prescription dose of Aleve as well and it doesn't really do much but eh what's no.  I have no idea if it is bad or not...my pain gauge has never really been right on ha, if you remember the football fracture.  So I guess we will just wait and see.

We had a baptism this past Saturday for a girl who is 19 years old and just graduated this past year.  It was cool how we met her and I don’t know if I told you already but I will just tell you again.  She was walking home one day with her little sister and they had this thought to walk a different way home than usual so they did and then when they were on that path they saw the sister missionaries coming towards them and she said that they never talk to strangers when they are walking because it is apparently just "not my thing" she says haha...But she had the thought that she needed to stop and talk to them and so she did.  While she was talking to them she felt like she needed to actually sit down and meet with them so she set it all up.  Pause on the story for now.  It is actually what happened to Nephi when he said "And I was led by the Spirit not knowing beforehand the things which I should do."  It is crazy to see how the Spirit obviously brought all those thoughts to her head and at the time she had no clue what was going to come of it, especially getting baptized. It is also cool to think about how the Sisters played a role in this as well.  We always say that the Lord sends His prepared children to His prepared servants.  So there is no doubt that the sisters were prepared, meaning they were being obedient, faithful and diligent so that the Lord could use them as an instrument to help this girl receive the gospel.

We can look at ourselves and see if we are doing everything that is possible to be that worthy instrument so that the Lord can use us to help His children accept the gospel. It doesn't even take extreme efforts on our part most of the time because the Lord is going to send them to us.  We just have to be worthy and ready to receive them.  If God knows that He can trust us to help His children return home, then He will put them in our paths because He knows we will get the job done..But if not; He won’t'.. It's kinda like basketball.  If the game is super important and you are going to take the last shot, who is going to get the ball?  Michael Jordan or Luke Walton? Obviously nobody will ever give Luke Walton the ball when the game is on the line because we all know he probably won't get the job done haha...Well it's like the same thing with the gospel except the game we are playing in is a lot more important than basketball.  In the words of Elder Clarke he said "welcome to the Majors- Elders and Sisters." The game is winding down with time left and so God is looking for those members that He can trust to take the last shot.  He knows how important it is for them to accept, live and stay faithful to the gospel so sometimes when His children need an extra boost He will send them in the paths of those He can trust to help them get on or stay on the path.  So that's why living the gospel and repenting every single day is so important so that we can always be worthy and constantly getting better so that we can all be ready to take, and make the game winner. There is a cool Mormon Message about football of course that goes along with that, you should watch it! It’s called "Sanctify Yourselves".

But anyways now this girl has been baptized and is super stoked on life to be a member of the church because of how it makes her feel.  Obviously she is feeling the power of the Atonement for in her life because baptism is what gives her access to it.  Because of that she is wanting to share it with her family that aren't members.  She is the only one that is a member now and the sisters are working with them.  We told her that she is experiencing what Lehi experienced when he partook of the fruit of the tree of life (Atonement).  He was filled with joy and desired to share that with his family.  She thought it was super legit.
We have another baptism coming up here in a couple weeks so that is pretty much all that is going on here.

Thanksgiving was super good.  The food was super good and they had like 10 different types of pies which was a beautiful thing :)...As for Chirstmas-  I will  find someone with AT&T on Christmas to use their phone.

Hope all is going well there.  1 Timothy 4:12  :)
Love ya!

Siempre Crean,
Elder Creer
