A glimpse into the life of a Mormon missionary (Elder Creer) as he serves a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He began serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission- Spanish speaking. On July 1, 2012, he was transferred to a new mission- the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission.

Playin' 'til the whistle blows baby!

Hola Famila,
Well this one is going to be short and it will be my last one...Next week p-day isn't until Thursday for the 4th of July and I will be home on Tuesday. Friday is outgoing missionary day so we will be going to the temple, lunch and have have interviews with President and Sister Swain. Then Sunday night we are having a mission devotional and then Monday we are having a mission party to celebrate the first year of the mission so this week is going to fly by...I don't even know what to think. I am just so grateful to have had the opportunity to be able to serve a full time mission for the Lord. I have learned a ton and my testimony has grown way stronger! I have had so many opportunities here that I wouldn't have had anywhere else so it has definitely been a blessing. I might not have thought that when I first opened my call and people just made fun of me, but looking back I wouldn't have traded it for anything else in the world! I know this work is the work of the Lord and it is sad I won't be doing it full time here in a week but I will work my heart out this week! Playin' 'til the whistle blows baby!

"...I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do..."

Hola Familia!
How is everything going? Things here are going good. Trying to finish up strong here! This past week we were walking to an appointment and we got there and they cancelled. So we started to walk down the hill and we felt prompted to turn around and we started to walk back up the hill...after 3 or 4 minutes we were yelled at by someone from a car so we stopped and she pulled over and asked if we spoke Spanish so we told her that we did. We began talking with her and then she pulled into the street and we taught her a lesson there for like 30 minutes and she explained how she was struggling and was going through a lot of depression. She isn't a member but she said as she was driving she felt like she should try and stop us. So we were talking to her and testified that God knew that she needed help. She agreed and thought it was crazy that she just felt to stop and we told her our side of the story..About how we were going the opposite direction but then felt the need to turn around what happened to both of us. We promised her that the reason why we turned around was for her..She thought the whole thing was intriguing...We told her that was how God worked and we shared 1 Nephi 4:6  (“And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.”) with her and told her that is exactly what happened to both of us. She obviously could feel the spirit as she agreed. She kept going on and on after that about how hard her life was and about how lonely she felt and how she just needed to feel comfort. She said that was the number one thing that she wanted right now (the peace and comfort of the Holy Ghost) so we testified that was what she needed. She needed the gift of the Holy Ghost and we told her that she can get that through baptism.
There is a good story of that in 3 Nephi where it says that the people prayed for what they desired most, which was the Holy Ghost. Then it says they were baptized.
We invited her to be baptized and she agreed! She doesn't live in our area but she will be a solid referral for the missionaries in the other mission. She was crying a lot but you could tell that just by the 20 or 30 minutes we talked she received some hope.
That was pretty much the biggest miracle of the week!
Hope all is going well for you and we'll see ya in 3..

The time is running short but my fire for the work isn't!

Hola familia!
How are things going? Sounds like Bry is doing really good,- super energetic too haha. Things here are going good..Just got less than a month left! So crazy how fast it is!  We are trying as hard as we can to get the area up and running before I head out. This week was super busy so we didn't have that much of a chance to work a lot in our areas but this week we should be good to go. We really didn't have too much time to work so there aren't very many stories or anything. We almost got jumped cuz some druggies wanted our bikes but that's about it haha.
I know that the time is running short but my fire for the work isn't! I am going to work my heart out till the very end so that the Lord can continue to use me as His instrument! I know there are people that will be ready to be baptized before I go home, I just have to be worthy to find them! Hope all is going well there...adios!
